Books for Postpartum and Parenting

By Robin Elise Weiss, LCCE, About.com

When you first bring baby home, you may feel overwhelmed and bewildered. I know I sure did. Even after having multiple kids, bringing someone new into the mix adds confusion and brings up questions. Here are some places to look for answers.

1. The New Mom's Survival Guide

This book was so handy to have in the days after my baby was born. The Q and A format let's you get right to the point and more importantly the answer you're looking for right then. Written by a mom who is a physician, but it's got a real flare for being down to earth and not preachy. A great gift for a new mom.

Sometimes women have the need to work through their birth, either because it was difficult, not what they expected or even traumatic. I'm sorry to say that this book is needed, but it's an amazing book to help you work through your birth experience no matter how or where you gave birth. A must read for anyone still trying to process what happened.
